Proper preventive care includes wellness exams and vaccinations, wellness blood testing, heartworm prevention, flea and tick prevention, and parasite prevention and control.

A thorough physical exam is important in defining the underlying cause for illness. To assist in a proper diagnosis, testing may include bloodwork, digital radiology (x-ray), ultrasound imaging, and cytology. Medical conditions are then managed through treatment and follow up care.

We perform Orthopedic and Advanced Soft Tissue Surgery in addition to spays, neuters, and growth removals. We understand your concern for anesthesia and surgery for your pet is the same as your concern for a family member. We take anesthesia and surgery very seriously. All of our anesthetic patients are carefully monitored throughout their procedures. Our surgical patients receive an IV catheter, IV fluids, and perioperative pain management.

Dental health is important. Ideally, pet’s teeth should be brushed daily (like our own teeth)! However, there are times when additional dental care is needed. Dental cleanings involve a full assessment of the teeth, periodontium, gingiva, and oral cavity during general anesthesia. Digital dental x-rays are performed to assess the degree of periodontal disease and the health of the teeth and surrounding bone. Treatment for periodontal disease includes antibiotics, and extractions when significant disease is present.

When a pet requires immediate veterinary care, an examination, diagnostic testing, and treatment are performed. For more emergent and serious conditions, we will stabilize the pet prior to transfer for continued care to a nearby emergency veterinary hospital.

As our pets live longer, there may come a time when hospice care is needed for those facing terminal illness or end-of-life conditions. This compassionate approach focuses on maintaining quality of life rather than pursuing aggressive treatments. Our veterinary hospice services provide comprehensive palliative care that addresses pain management, mobility issues, nutrition support, and emotional well-being for both pets and their families. We create individualized care plans that may include medication management, physical therapy techniques, environmental modifications, and guidance on recognizing changes in your pet’s condition. Animal behavior problems play a significant role in disrupting the human/animal bond. A physical exam and bloodwork are performed to determine if there is an underlying illness causing the behavioral problem. Counseling and behavioral modification medications may be prescribed to help manage adverse behaviors. Referral to a Veterinary Behavioral Doctor may be indicated in some cases.

Our veterinarians are USDA/APHIS Accredited for International travel health certificates. When scheduling an appointment for a health certificate, please gather all necessary information regarding your destination and requirements for travel. Each country and airline often has different requirements. Preparing for International travel with a pet is an extensive process and in some cases can take months. Our team is here to help with facilitating exams, vaccines and testing and will sign off on the required forms. To ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible, please follow the steps below before your scheduled appointment:

1. If you’re planning to travel with your pet, you may need to complete certain paperwork or tasks before you go. Meeting these requirements takes time, so don’t delay. The information on the following website will help you get started: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel.

2. Different countries have different requirements, so be sure to note all required vaccines, testing, medications and if a Microchip is required. If your pet does not have a microchip, please let us know at the time of scheduling so we can facilitate this at your appointment.

3. Determine whether your destination requires their own specific health certificate, or if the APHIS Form 7001 is accepted.

4. Once you’ve completed the Checklist, contact our office to schedule an appointment. Health certificate appointments are scheduled for a minimum of 1 hour and are often required within 14 days of travel. Please bring your checklist and any country-specific paperwork, as well as your pet.
